As bloggers, the time it takes to load a page or website is one of the most important things to consider as it is one of the keys to keep the readers from constantly visiting your site. A website that loads 1-5 seconds is already acceptable and will not keep your visitors from waiting longer. If your website has a slow loading time, the users will not wait anymore and will prefer to jump into another website and will look for its content.
To avoid that to happen, you may try to use these free and open source tools that could test the performance and speed of your website. These tools will give you an overview as well as recommendations on how you could improve the response time of your website. Check them out!

Aptimize is not open source and definitely not free! It does not belong in this list.
Good overview, but I have my doubts on the quality of some of these web services. Several are blacklisted on World of trust and don’t even calculate the content on the page, only the speed of connecting.
Is it just me but which tool is opensource? I only see self promoting sites with premium options or way too simple tools.
In my eyes you forgot the most important tool: webpagetest.org as recommended by Matt Cutts himself.
